HOBBS, N.M. (AP) _ Hobbs police say an inmate was found hanging in a cell at the city jail Monday and was pronounced dead at a hospital in the southeastern New Mexico community.
He was identified as 42-year-old Dennis M. O’donnell of Seminole, Texas. The Lea County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death.
Police say O’donnell was jailed Sunday afternoon after a routine traffic stop discovered he was wanted on a warrant for a parole violation in Harris County, Texas.
Officers found him hanging in his cell about 9:20 a.m. Monday.
