CADDO GAP, Ark. (AP) _ A Texas couple is telling a harrowing story of survival after flash floods swamped a southwest Arkansas campground, killing at least 20 people today.
Officials say the Albert Pike Recreation Area was packed with vacationing families, many of them from Louisiana and Texas.
Marc and Stacy McNeil of Marshall, Texas say they survived by pulling their pickup truck between two trees and standing in the bed in waist-deep water.
Marc McNeil says it felt like being in a boat tied to a tree. The McNeils were part of a group of seven who were camping in tents. Stacy McNeil says everyone huddled together and prayed like they never have before.
By dawn the rain stopped, the water receded and they were able to walk to safety.
