College Station firefighters received mutual aid with a grass fire Sunday afternoon that torched more than eight acres near Castlegate Drive and Greens Prairie Road. No one was hurt and no structures were damaged. There was limited vehicle access because the ground was soft. Firefighters who hiked into the fire were assisted by a drone and dozer that plowed a clearing to contain the fire to a wooded and brush area. The cause is undetermined. CSFD advises many residents in this community live in areas that the fire department considers a wildland-urban-interface. CSFD says the National Fire Protection Association outlines risk reduction strategies for these homeowners in a document that is available at https://www.nfpa.org//-/media/Images/Public-Education/By-topic/Outdoors/7-Firewise-Tips-(1).pdf

Another CSFD call Sunday afternoon was at the Holleman Oaks apartments near Anderson Park. The fire was in a barbecue pit on an apartment balcony.
