“There is too much bad news in the criminal justice system.”
That statement, from Brazos County District Judge Travis Bryan, came as two men were recognized Thursday.
The judge says it’s part of a new program offered to those convicted of non-violent crimes and placed on probation.
Bryan says model probationers can be released early and have their felony convictions removed from their record.
Judge Travis Bryan says the program formalizes what has been done in the past on occasion.
Judge Bryan says most who complete probation don’t get into trouble again.
The judge says Thomas Murphy and Houston Fowler were in court Thursday to have their felony convictions removed because of their performance while on probation.
