For the third time in six years, a Washington County man is headed to prison for crimes in Brazos County. As part of a plea agreement with the Brazos County district attorney’s office, 40 year old Buddy Perez of Burton admitted to forcing his way into a home west of Bryan in June of last year and taking jewelry. A 17 year old girl and her younger sister were hiding until Perez entered their bedroom. Prosecutors credited the teen for chasing Perez out of the house, then giving 9-1-1 dispatchers his description and the license plate of the getaway vehicle. The 37 year prison sentence also covers a guilty plea to evading arrest, and the remainder of a 2015 sentence for three other home burglaries in Brazos County.

A Bryan man whose Brazos County court history goes back 21 years is returning to prison for the third time in the last 12 years. 45 year old Sammie Hernandez and the district attorney’s office entered a plea agreement to charges from an arrest last January inside the CHI St. Joseph emergency room. Hernandez admitted to exposing himself in front of an emergency room nurse. Then as Hernandez was being taken out of the hospital, he threatened to beat up a Bryan police officer. Hernandez was sentenced to 12 years for felony retaliation and misdemeanor indecent exposure.
