A disturbance at a bed and breakfast near Bryan’s Sue Haswell Park led to the arrest of a local man on multiple charges and a woman from north of Abilene on a warrant from the Austin parole office. According to the arrest report from Bryan police, 30 year old Lisa Marie Cogburn had rented the room and 32 year old Christopher James Morgan was visiting her. No details about the disturbance were reported. But Morgan was arrested for possessing methamphetamine and seven warrants from Bryan Municipal Court on driving and drug charges. According to online records, it’s Morgan’s 17th trip to jail in 15 years.
A Bryan city employee who heard gunfire and saw a man and a woman fighting near the city cemetery last Thursday led to police arresting both people on charges of family violence assault. According to the arrest report, other witnesses heard around five gunshots during the fight between 33 year old Sylinna Johnson and 24 year old Nathan Caldwell. Neither Johnson or Caldwell said who fired the shots. No medical treatment was sought before they were taken to jail on the misdemeanor charge. According to online records, it was the man’s first trip to jail and the woman’s 19th trip since 2002. According to online court records, the woman is awaiting trial on a charge of driving with an invalid license with one prior conviction.
A Bryan man remains in jail following his arrest last Wednesday night outside the Wal Mart for taking a smartphone from the driver of a car outside the H-E-B on Villa Maria. According to the Bryan police arrest report, the victim said 25 year old Ryan Searcy drove up and asked to borrow his phone to make an emergency call. When the good samaritan agreed, Searcy said “Thanks” and drove away with the phone. Searcy was caught after a Wal Mart employee saw him enter or attempt to get into four vehicles and arguing with other customers. Then a B-P-D officer stopped Searcy after seeing take a sports drink from the cooler outside the Wal-Mart gas station then walk away without paying.
