Two Arrested For Online Solicitation Of Minors In Burleson County

A Rockdale couple was arrested in Caldwell Saturday on charges of online solictation of three underage girls.

More arrests are possible from a joint investigation by the Burleson County sheriff’s office and DPS that began in July.

In the Burleson County jail are 37 year old Joseph Schiefelbein and 20 year old Ashley Straub.

Investigators accuse them of planning to use 11, 14, and 16 year old girls to make pornographic movies among other illegal acts.

Deputy Christine Labertew says the girls were not harmed.

Labertew also asks anyone who is aware of a child who is involved in a dangerous online relationship or suspect anyone who is exploiting juveniles to contact authorities.

News release from the Burleson County sheriff’s office:

On Saturday, November 7, 2015 at approximately 11:30am, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division assisted by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division arrested two subjects for Online Solicitation of a Minor after an investigation that began in July 2015.

In July 2015, investigators discovered a plan involving a married couple conspiring to meet with three juvenile females, ages 11,14 and 16 in Caldwell. They detailed a plan for deviant sexual acts with the juveniles to include making pornographic movies. As the suspects arrived at a predetermined location in Caldwell, they were intercepted by Burleson County Investigators and DPS Special Agents.

Following an extensive investigation, the following subjects were arrested at a business on State Highway 36N in Caldwell on Saturday:

Schiefelbein, Joseph, 37, of Rockdale…see attached picture
Straub, Ashley, 20, of Rockdale…see attached picture

Both were charged with 2 counts each, Online Solicitation of a Minor, Sexual Conduct and are being held under a $40,000 bond each in the Burleson County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation of this incident as additional charges and arrests are possible.

DPS Director Steven McCraw says that “DPS is committed to pursuing the criminals who participate in the trafficking and sexual exploitation of children, and this premier interdiction program has been crucial to our efforts to detect and rescue endangered children.”
