A Texas prison employee is in police custody as the lead suspect in the so-called “Twilight Rapist” case.
Billy Joe Harris was arrested Saturday in Edna, near Victoria, as police responded to an elderly woman’s medical emergency alert.
Authorities say a DNA sample from Harris, 53, ties him to five other attacks.
For more than a year, authorities in several Texas counties, including Leon, searched for the man suspected of sexually assaulting elderly women in their homes.
Harris is currently held on a burglary charge as the investigation continues.
Harris works as a noncommissioned employee for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and was also employed by a Houston-based home health care agency.
