A trucker from Ft. Worth escaped injury Sunday morning after his semi rolled on Rudder Freeway at the North Texas Avenue split.
The southbound lanes of the freeway were closed from just before 9 a.m. until after 2 p.m.
The driver was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.
According to Bryan police, the driver lost control, struck road signs, and came to a stop in the southbound lanes on its side.
Three people went to the hospital following two crashes in Bryan Tuesday morning (July 16). A Bryan police spokesman says on Highway 21 near Coulter Field airport, a westbound vehicle left the road, struck a parked vehicle, and flipped. A passenger who was ejected and the driver were taken to an emergency room for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The other crash closed the northbound freeway exit ramp to William Joel Bryan Parkway. That’s after a tire blew out on a pickup hauling a trailer, causing the truck to roll over. One passenger was taken to the E-R for treatment of minor injuries.
A Houston area woman who used to live in Bryan remains in the Brazos County jail following her arrest last Tuesday (July 9) on 23 warrants. One of the warrants accuses 32 year old Imari Oliver of child endangerment. The Bryan police arrest report says Oliver’s 12 year old son, who was left alone with his nine and five year old sisters, wound up in the hospital after eating chocolate containing T-H-C. The arrest report does not say who has custody of the children. Online jail records show the woman also had 21 warrants from Bryan municipal court. A BPD spokesman says 20 of the city warrants were from 2021. 16 of those 20 warrants were related to citations issued by a Bryan animal control officer. Jail records show in all of the municipal court cases, she was released to either community service or to pay a fine at a later date. The warrant list also includes owing a fine and/or court costs from a 2021 district court case involving a traffic accident involving property damage of more than $200 dollars. She remains jailed as of July 16 in lieu of an $18,000 dollar bond on the child endangerment charge that took place March 15th, 2024.
College Station’s mayor sends a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration forwarding the city council’s position on Amazon’s request to expand its drone delivery service. The letter from John Nichols asks the FAA to delay Amazon’s request until noise is reduced. The mayor’s letter cites what he describes as “concerns” from surrounding homeowners. Nichols also says Amazon’s request to increase the number of drone flights and expand the number of hours and days that drones operate could exceed what is allowed under College Station’s current zoning of suburban commercial. The mayor’s letter says the council supports Amazon’s request to use a new drone that Amazon says is 40 percent quieter and will allow deliveries to be made farther away. The letter, obtained by WTAW News through an open records request, was sent to the FAA on July 11. Public comments to Amazon’s application to the FAA ended July 12.
