Triple Murder-Suicide in San Jacinto County

CLEVELAND, Texas (AP) _ Friends and family say they repeatedly called the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s office for hours pleading for them to respond because a Texas man had been hallucinating and behaving more violently.

San Jacinto County Capt. Carl Jones said Monday that initially officers knew 43-year-old Oliver Bills Jr. was sick when they got the calls on Saturday. He said later that day, they had only four squad cars and were swamped with a major car crash.

No one was sent to the rural southeast Texas home, about 55 miles north of Houston, until 8 p.m. Saturday. Authorities found the bodies of four people in what they’re calling a triple
murder-suicide.

Jones said Bills fatally shot his girlfriend, 27-year-old Shara Torres, and her 4-year-old daughter, Sara Whitmire, and his adopted mother, 71-year-old Gloria Bills.

Jones says Bills then killed himself.
