LIBERTY, Texas (AP) _ Some of more than dozen men accused of taking part in a series of sexual assaults on an 11-year-old girl could be given trial dates in a case that has divided and horrified their Southeast Texas town.
The 14 men are scheduled to be in a state district courtroom in Liberty on Thursday for status updates. State District Judge Mark Morefield said last month he expected to announce trial dates at the hearing.
The men, along with six juvenile boys, face assault and abuse charges over the alleged 2010 incidents that happened over a period of months in Cleveland, about 45 miles northeast of Houston.
Four of the juveniles and one of the adult men have previously pleaded guilty in the case.
