Trial Begins in Central Texas Murder Spree

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Travis County prosecutors have launched their case in the capital murder trial in Austin of Paul Devoe.

He’s accused of killing six people in a cross-country shooting rampage in 2007.

Prosecutor Gary Cobb said Monday that there would be no doubt after all the evidence is presented that Devoe murdered two teenage girls who are the subject of this trial.

Devoe dabbed his eyes with a tissue in the courtroom. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the 46-year-old Devoe.

Authorities allege he killed a bartender in Marble Falls. Police say Devoe then allegedly drove to the home of his ex-girlfriend and shot dead her, her boyfriend and the woman’s 15-year-old daughter, Haylie Faulkner, and Haylie’s friend, 17-year-old Danielle Hensley. He’s also accused of killing an elderly woman in Pennsylvania.
