A Hempstead man is one of two people accused of taking more than $32,000 of park equipment and tools owned by the city of College Station.
The arrest followed a chase that followed a traffic stop Thursday night when a College Station police officer pulled over a pickup towing a trailer without proper lights. This was in the southbound lanes of Highway 6 near William D. Fitch Parkway.
According to a police department news release, the truck began to slow and pull over to the shoulder near Nantucket Drive…only to accelerate and go over the median between the highway and feeder road, then crossing the feeder road, then enter the ditch on the other side. As the truck stopped, the driver and a passenger got out and ran towards the fence line and woods.
The driver escaped but the passenger was apprehended. 38 year old Joshua Reeves Jr. was arrested for felony theft, evading arrest, and marijuana possession.
Stolen property that was recovered from Central Park was the trailer, lawn mowers, trimmers, and other tools.
