Ticket Issued After Wild Turkey Is Killed in New Braunfels Park

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (AP) _ A man has been cited over the death of a wild turkey that was a favorite of visitors to a South Texas park.

A Facebook page memorializes the turkey that lived at Landa Park in New Braunfels.

The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung (http://bit.ly/u2J9mi) reported Wednesday that the turkey died Nov. 22, a day after allegedly being grabbed by the neck and thrown into a wading pool.

Game warden Brent Satsky says the suspect, whose name wasn’t immediately released, has been cited for illegal possession of a live game bird. The man also was wanted for failure to pay child support.

Satsky says a woman noticed two men harassing the bird and reported the license plate number of their vehicle. The suspect was located working on restoration of the Comal County Courthouse.
