MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – A trio of Texas A&M divers earned their spots at the 2018 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship with strong performances on the first day of the NCAA Zone D Qualifier on Monday at the University of Minnesota.
Senior Tyler Henschel (Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada) and junior Sam Thornton (Baildon, United Kingdom) will be making return trips to the national meet, while freshman Kurtis Mathews (Albury, Australia) will be making his first trip to the NCAA Championship.
Henschel placed third in the three-meter springboard with a 12-dive score of 826.95, Mathews was sixth with 775.30 points and Thornton was seventh with 770.70. Junior Skylar Lake was 13th with 692.15. On the women’s side, junior Alaïs Kalonji was the Aggies’ top finisher in 17th place with 528.15 points.
