Three Men Missing Off Texas Coast

HOUSTON (AP) _ Coast Guard crews are searching for three men reported missing after a fishing trip off the Matagorda coast.

Crewmembers from an offshore oil rig told the Coast Guard they had seen the 23-foot catamaran, with the three men on board, at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Coast Guard searched an area about 70 nautical miles off the Matagorda coast on Sunday by boat, plane and helicopter.

The owner of the boat, 30-year-old James Phillips of Blessing, told his wife the trio would return around 2 p.m. Saturday and she called the Coast Guard to report them missing when they weren’t home at 9 p.m.

28-year-old Curtis Hall, from Palacios, and an unidentified man were also on the boat.
