Inflammatory remarks made last year by a former chairman of Bryan’s Planning and Zoning Commission about two city councilmen and public speakers were brought up Tuesday during a joint workshop of the two bodies.
That led to three members of the council getting out of their seats, resulting in the meeting coming to an end.
Councilman Al Saenz disagreed with Mayor Jason Bienski and an assistant city attorney that the subject could not be discussed because it was not on the agenda.
A few seconds later, the mayor left the basement meeting room; stating he was not going to be part of an illegal meeting.
As councilmen Art Hughes and Chuck Konderla followed Bienski, P&Z chairman Scott Hickle adjourned the meeting.
Following a lunch break, the council workshop resumed but without Saenz, though he returned later in the afternoon.
