Three Livestock Trucks Overturn In Two Weeks

Highway 21 west of Bryan was shut down Friday morning after a semi-trailer hauling cattle overturned between the river bridges.

DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan says the semi left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled in the center median.

The driver was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.

Morgan says six of 78 head of cattle died.

It’s the third livestock truck to crash on local highways in the last two weeks. One involved another cattle truck on FM 50 in Burleson County and the other was a chicken truck that overturned 46 northwest of Franklin.

Morgan reminds drivers, regardless of vehicle, to avoid distractions that can cause wrecks.
