A DPS trooper says he witnessed a hit and run crash Saturday night west of downtown Bryan, where the trooper had to evasive action to prevent being struck. According to the trooper’s arrest report, a pickup pulled out onto west William Joel Bryan and struck the rear driver’s side of a passenger vehicle with five young women. Any injuries to any of the women did not lead to anyone being transported. The trooper also reported the pickup ran over a curb, nearly struck two telephone poles, and drove on the wrong side of the road before stopping. The driver, 19 year old Martin Arriola of Bryan, was found to be an undocumented alien from Mexico. He was arrested for failing to render aid and DWI when his breath tests indicated an alcohol level of more than .210, which is more than two and half times the legal limit. According to online court records, Arriola just started a two year sentence of community supervision after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge.
A Friday night trip to the local Best Buy store landed a Bryan man in jail on a DWI charge. College Station police received a call from the store manager, who said 55 year old Daniel Sanchez Jr. smelled of alcohol after he saw him pee on a television box. According to the arrest report, the manager also saw Sanchez drive a pickup around the store’s parking lot. According to online records, this was the 17th time Sanchez was booked in the Brazos County jail since 1994.
A Wellborn man was arrested for DWI with two prior convictions while boating on Lake Bryan on Saturday. A Parks and Wildlife warden was doing boat checks according to his arrest report when he reported 47 year old Brian Ragan failed several sobriety tests. Ragan, who refused breath and blood tests, was taken to jail while a court order was sought to get a blood test. Ragan is out of jail after posting a $10,000 dollar bond.
