Three Guilty Pleas in Brazos County District Court

A teenager who became a father with two women within ten days is headed to prison for causing multiple skull fractures to one of his children. Jason Daniel Duran of Bryan was 17 at the time he struck his then nine month old daughter in the head and threw her in the crib. Duran, who pleaded guilty to child abuse, was sentenced to 14 years. Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Ryan Calvert says at least half the time will be served before becoming eligible for parole. Calvert says the best they can tell, the now nearly two year old is doing fine. alvert says Duran did not hurt his son.

The D.A.’s office also reported a Madisonville man pleaded guilty for his part in a Bryan convenience store armed robbery three years ago this December. 24 year old Willie Earl Johnson was sentenced to 20 years for that holdup. He was also recently convicted in Madisonville for a robbery at the Brookshire Brothers store.

And a local gang member recently pleaded guilty to beating and robbing a man who refused to return $950 he won in gambling. 22 year old Carl Walker, Jr. of College Station was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The victim was treated for injuries that included a broken jaw from the incident two years ago. Charges remain pending against two co-defendants.
