Three Bryan ISD Schools Take Action Following A Report Of Gunfire In The Woods

Multiple law enforcement agencies spent Thursday afternoon in the woods near three Bryan schools.

Bryan police report receiving a call that behind Mitchell elementary, there was a loud noise that was suspected to be gunfire and four people between the ages of 17 and 20 in the woods.

That led to a search employing K-9 officers, drones from the city of Bryan, BPD officers, Bryan firefighters, officers from local constable precincts, and Brazos County sheriff’s deputies.

BPD reported finding no people or evidence of gunfire.

Bryan ISD reported teachers at Mitchell supervising recess took students inside after hearing what they thought was gunfire.

Then the district put Mitchell, Rayburn, and Rudder on a perimeter seal the rest of the day…which meant not allowing anyone in or outside of those buildings.

Additionally, BISD called parents of students at Mitchell and Rayburn asking to pick up their children after school instead of letting them walk home.
