News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
Texas A&M women’s golfers Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio and Vanessa Borovilos, and Aggie men’s golfer Wheaton Ennis have been selected to showcase their talents at the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup in July.
Fernández García-Poggio and Borovilos will compete for Team International, while Ennis represents Team United States. Texas A&M is one of just five schools to have three or more golfers selected for the event.
The 30th edition of the Arnold Palmer Cup is scheduled for July 3-5 at Tralee Golf Links in West Barrow, Ireland. Co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America, the elite Ryder Cup-style tournament began in 1997. It features the top men’s and women’s college golfers matching the United States against a team of international players.
Fernández García-Poggio is a two-time All-SEC First Team selection and has competed on four occasions at the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The Spaniard is ranked No. 33 on the WAGR and has three collegiate tournament victories. Fernández García-Poggio has a 7-2-1 career match play record, along with a perfect 5-0 mark in SEC Championship matches.
Borovilos leads the Aggies with a 71.10 stroke average this season and earned an All-SEC First Team nod for the first time in her career. The Canadian has a WAGR ranking of No. 21 and finished tied for 11th at this year’s Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Borovilos is 4-0 in her collegiate career in match play and holds the record for the low round at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, carding a 9-under 63 in the second round of the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur.
Ennis owns five top 10 finishes on the season and has finished in the top 20 in nine of 12 events. He is a GCAA All-Freshman, SEC All-Freshman, and PING All-Central Region honoree in 2025 after a standout debut season, highlighted by winning the 2024 Arizona Amateur Championship and competing in the Patriot All-America Invitational and U.S. Amateur (Round of 32 in 2024). He won the 100th Arizona Amateur in 2024.
Poggio and Borovilos become the fourth and fifth Texas A&M women’s golfers to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup, joining Maddie Szeryk (2018), Jennie Park (2023), and Adela Cernousek (2024).
Ennis joins Andrea Pavan (’09, ’10), Chandler Phillips (’17, ’18, ’19), Sam Bennett (’21, ’22), and Phichaksn Maichon (’24) as Aggies to play Arnold Palmer Cups.
