“The Burning Desire” to air on Fox Sports SW

“The Burning Desire”, the inspirational original documentary produced by Texas A&M Athletics 12th Man Productions, will make its broadcast television debut on FOX Sports Southwest Tuesday night.

The regional sports channel will air the documentary on Tuesday, November 22 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (central) and will rebroadcast the show again from 10:30 p.m. until midnight that same night.

The 2009 documentary chronicles the dramatic events on the Texas A&M campus in November 1999 when the Aggie Bonfire collapsed killing 12 students and injuring several others and how the rivalry football game days later with the Texas Longhorns became an emotional focal point for all affected.

“With the final meeting of Texas A&M and the University of Texas scheduled for Thanksgiving night at Kyle Field, we are proud to partner with Texas A&M and 12th Man Productions to bring ‘The Burning Desire’ to the passionate college football fans in the Southwest region,” FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President Jon Heidtke, said. “The award-winning documentary takes an important look at the history between the two outstanding universities and chronicles one of the most emotional games in the historic rivalry.”

“The Burning Desire” received three Telly Awards which honor the very best in video, film, and cable television productions.  The documentary received a Silver Telly, the highest honor, in the category of Editing and another Silver Telly in the category of Copywriting.  The overall documentary was also awarded a Bronze Telly to recognize excellence as a creative work.

The 68-minute documentary also received one of the prestigious Gold REMI awards in its feature film and video documentary category at the Houston WorldFest Film Festival.

12th Man Productions is the television production arm of the Athletics Department at Texas A&M University and the documentary was a first-of-its-kind project for the group.

The two DVD set documentary, as well as the 1999 Longhorn vs. Aggie football game, is available on-line at www.Aggieathletics.com or on campus at the University Bookstore in G. Rollie White with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Bonfire Memorial Fund.
