CHANNING, Texas (AP) _ Texas highway officials say Colorado state Sen. Suzanne Williams was involved in a vehicle collision that killed a pregnant woman from Amarillo.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says Williams was treated at a hospital and released after the accident Sunday night. Trooper Gabriel Medrano says the woman who died was 30-year-old Brianna Michelle Gomez and her baby boy is in critical condition after being delivered via Caesarean section.
Medrano says the 65-year-old senator was driving north on U.S. 385 in Hartley County when she veered onto southbound traffic and collided with the vehicle Gomez was a passenger in. Three occupants in Williams’ vehicle are hospitalized and listed as stable. The driver of the other car and two child passengers were treated and released from Northwest Texas Hospital.
