Texas A&M System Proposing Hotel, Conference Center, & Parking Garage North of Kyle Field

The Texas A&M University System has filed a request for proposals (RFP) with the state comptroller’s office that will in part build a hotel, conference center, and parking garage north of Kyle Field.

It would be located on 11 acres north of the stadium across Joe Routt Boulevard.

The RFP states a pedestrian bridge would connect the center and the stadium.

Private financing would pay for building and operating the 150 bed hotel, and a parking garage holding 1,000 vehicles that’s no taller than four floors, and a 20,000 square foot conference center.

To make room, Cain Hall, originally an athletics dorm that is now an office building, would be demolished. A larger office building would be built to the north of the current location.

The RFP did not give a construction timeline or when the system would choose its developer.

They would have a ground lease for up to 30 years before turning over the improvements to the system.

As first reported by KBTX, system officials will hold an initial meeting with prospects Thursday, October 16th.

The deadline for receiving proposals is November 13th. Finalists would be interviewed the week of December 1st.
