From Texas A&M University:
A student-led fundraising effort at Texas A&M University will culminate with a check presentation of $50,000 to the LSU Tigers for flood relief. The check will be presented during the Aggie-LSU football game on Thanksgiving Day
.
Thousands in the LSU community suffered damage and/or displacement from this summer’s flooding in Louisiana.
The fundraising campaign, “Side-by-Side,” kicked off Nov. 15, led by Texas A&M Student Body President Hannah Wimberly and Executive Vice President Dan Rosenfield.
“I am so blown away by the generosity of the Aggie Family in supporting our friends at LSU,” Wimberly notes in assessing the fund-raising results. “We are so looking forward to presenting the check at the game, in front of both Aggies and Tigers. The success of this fundraiser is a true testament to just how much Aggies give back and selflessly serve. I am hopeful that these funds will go a long way in helping our friends rebuild.”
Rosenfield agrees, noting the support from the Texas A&M community was no surprise to him. “We, as student leaders, asked the student body, former students, and friends, and hundreds answered the call. This sense of commitment to others and dedication to selfless service is why I am proud to be a part of the Aggie family! We are extremely thankful to all those who donated and appreciative to those who were partners in this campaign.”
Half of the funds raised will benefit LSU students and the other half will go to LSU faculty and staff members affected by the flooding.
