Texas A&M Soccer Sees Historic Season Come to an End, Falls to Virginia 3-1 in Semifinals

The Texas A&M women’s soccer team saw the best season in program history come to an end this afternoon, falling to the University of Virginia 3-1 in the NCAA Semifinals in Boca Raton, Florida.

The Lady Cavaliers got on the board first with a header by Makenzy Doniakin the 12th minute , but the Aggies would answer back at the 31:59 mark, when Kelley Monogue found the net after a deflection from a free kick at midfield.

With a little more than a minute and a half left before half-time, Virginia made good on a corner kick when the ball caromed off several players and Emily Sonnett knocked the header in.

The score would remain 2-1 until late in the second half, when Virginia’s Alexis Shaffer kicked in the dagger at 86:33.

It was the first College Cup appearance for Texas A&M in the program’s 22 year history.
