AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Texans would be able to keep firearms in their cars even if their employers forbid them to under a bill that passed in the state Senate.
Businesses could still keep guns out of their offices or company vehicles. But the bill would generally let employees store firearms in locked vehicles in company parking lots and garages. Guns could still be prohibited in certain secured parking lots and in areas where firearms are prohibited by state or federal law.
The bill, a top priority of the National Rifle Association, was approved unanimously on a voice vote Wednesday.
It now moves to the state House.
