It’s no secret to the more than 4,000 Texas A&M faculty members that most will not be getting a merit pay raise next year.
That was a question at last month’s faculty senate meeting that took provost Karan Watson the better part of six minutes to explain.
The explanation dealt with state money A&M is getting during the next two years as recently approved during the legislature’s regular session.
Dr. Watson says faculty members who were promoted will get that corresponding salary increase.
There will also be some one-time merit raises in colleges and divisions that received more state money due to past enrollment increases.
