Governor Greg Abbott today joined prominent education and healthcare leaders from across the state to announce a new 30-acre research campus at Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. This new campus is expected to be completed in 2022 and will generate over $5 billion in economic stimulus and create 30,000 new jobs. The new center will support groundbreaking research in a number of sectors including, therapeutics, medical devices, regenerative medicine, genomics, and data science.
“Texas Medical Center’s new 30-acre research campus will provide our top medical minds with the resources to remain at the forefront of the health care industry,” said Governor Abbott. “This cutting edge facility will not only generate thousands of jobs, but it will solidify Texas’ position as an international leader in biomedical research. I thank the Texas Medical Center, the University of Texas, Texas A&M University, and the Baylor College of Medicine for being a part of this transformative project, and for their continued commitment to changing the world though advancements in health care.”

The TMC3 campus will foster unparalleled opportunity for new discoveries on a daily basis,” said Texas Medical Center President and Chief Executive Officer William F. McKeon.
TMC3 will be an international hub for biomedical research that will bring together top researchers from the private sector as well as Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A&M University Health Science Center, the University of Texas Health Science Center and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
