IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Retail gasoline prices in Texas jumped 7 cents in the past week to average $2.82 a gallon.
AAA Texas on Thursday reported the increase follows a national hike in prices at the pump, reaching $2.93, up a nickel since last week.
The survey found that gas prices in San Antonio were the lowest statewide, averaging $2.76 a gallon. Dallas and Corpus Christi tied for the highest price, at $2.85 a gallon.
AAA Texas says it does not appear that the April 20 rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana is responsible for higher gasoline prices. Efforts continue to stop leaking oil.
The association, in a statement, says gasoline inventories are at their highest levels in 17 years and domestic demand is stagnant.
