Texas Farm Bureau Declines to Endorse Governor Candidate

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ The Texas Farm Bureau’s political arm has decided to remain neutral in the Texas governor’s race.

The board of directors made that decision unanimously Wednesday afternoon.

The group backed U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in the spring Republican primary over incumbent Gov. Rick Perry.

In this fall’s general election, the group opted not to endorse Perry or Democrat Bill White. The Texas Farm Bureau is considered a powerful political force because of the way its local members around the state tend to work to get out the vote for an endorsed candidate.
