TIMPSON, Texas (AP) _ A cowboy from Garrison died after being stepped on by a bull.
Services were planned Wednesday for Josh Griffin, who was fatally injured Sunday while riding at Timpson Rodeo Arena.
Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson says Griffin, 27, was riding the bull when he lost his grip, fell and was stepped on. Griffin was transported to a hospital in Longview, where he died.
A witness, the Rev. Chet Strain, said Griffin was wearing a helmet and protective gear, but one of the bull’s legs apparently caught on the rider’s chest when he fell.
Services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holly Springs Baptist Church near Garrison.
