Texas A&M’s Hudkins Wins SEC Diver of the Week Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Texas A&M junior Madison Hudkins was named Southeastern Confererence Diver of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday after a dominant performance against the Texas Longhorns last Friday.

Hudkins, from Murrieta, Calif., swept the one- and three-meter dives against the Longhorns. Hudkins scored a season-best 322.27 on the one-meter and 349.50 on the three-meter board. For the season, Hudkins has been victorious in eight of 10 diving events and has compiled a sparkling 51-3 record against collegians.

Male Swimmer of the Week
Jan Switkowski • Florida
Sophomore • Lublin, Poland

Switkowski had an impressive meet against South Carolina, swimming to first-place times in all four of his races and posting two of the country’s top times. He got things started in the 200 medley relay (1:27.46), before posting the nation’s top time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:34.81). Switkowski went back-to-back in rewriting the national top-times charts after touching out at the 1:45.07 mark in the 200-yard IM.

Male Diver of the Week
Clark Thomas • Missouri
Senior • Olathe, Kan.

Thomas swept the springboard events to help the Mizzou Tigers earn wins over Kentucky, Northwestern and Southern Illinois in a two-day quad dual, Nov. 6-7. He posted a season-best score of 377.55 on the 3-meter to nab the win by over 40 points. Thomas also proved victorious on 1-meter after a tally of 358.25, almost 35 points ahead of the second-place finisher. He is undefeated on 1-meter this season with three wins in three meets thus far.

Male Freshman of the Week
James Guest • Georgia
Freshman • Baie-d’Urfe, Montreal

In Georgia’s win over Georgia Tech on Wednesday, Guest won the 200-yard breaststroke in 1:59.73. He also swam the second leg of the 200-yard medley relay that won in 1:28.29. Guest took second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 55.99. He helped the Bulldogs improve to 3-0 this season and extend their win streak over Georgia Tech to 49 straight dating back to the 1961-62 season.

Female Swimmer of the Week
Jillian Vitarius • Auburn
Senior • Kingwood, Texas

In Auburn’s win over No. 9 Indiana, Vitarius swept the backstroke events and was on the winning 200 medley relay team. She tied for the win in the 100 backstroke in a NCAA B cut time of 54.15 and won the 200 backstroke in a NCAA B cut time of 1:57.58, almost a second-and-a-half faster than second place. Vitarius swam the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay in a time of 26.22.

Female Diver of the Week

In Texas A&M’s dual meet vs. No. 6 Texas, Hudkins won both springboard events. She scored a season-best 322.27 in the 1-meter and 349.50 in the 3-meter.

Female Freshman of the Week
Hannah Burns • Florida
Freshman • Memphis, Tenn.

Burns swam to a pair of wins and a runner-up finish to help lead Florida over South Carolina for its second SEC win on the 2015-16 slate. She won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.23 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:55.96. In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Burns placed second with a time of 10:04.63.
