Texas A&M’s Gibson Places Fifth in 100 Fly at U.S. Olympic Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – Texas A&M junior Sarah Gibson placed fifth in the 100-meter butterfly at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Monday at the CenturyLink Center.

Gibson, from San Antonio, Texas, flew to a time of 58.79 for her fifth place finish behind Kelsi Worrell (1st, 56.48), Dana Vollmer (2nd, 57.21), Kendyl Stewart (3rd, 58.22) and Cassidy Bayer (4th, 58.35). Gibson is the school record holder in the race and finished second at the 2016 NCAA Championships to Worrell.

In other action, Texas A&M graduate and 2012 Olympian Breeja Larson placed ninth in the 100-meter breaststroke semifinals with a time of 1:07.62 and is the first alternate to Tuesday’s final.
