With the Aggies’ season-opener less than two weeks away, head coach Jimbo Fisher says he’s still not ready to naming a starting quarterback. Fisher spoke with the media following Thursday’s practice, where also fielded questions surrounding former players, depth chart strategies and Saharan dust.

A motorcyclist was killed in a three vehicle crash Thursday night (October 10) on FM 60 east of the Brazos River. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reports their preliminary investigation shows on FM 60 near Vincent Road, the motorcyclist struck a westbound car that was attempting to make a U-Turn. The motorcyclist, who was thrown off his vehicle, was struck by an eastbound pickup. Killed was 69 year old James Jolly of Somerville. The drivers of the car and the pickup were not injured.

The Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley is closing its Lake Walk facility and temporarily switching to an online and mobile presence. Board Chair Pat Baker says you will see the museum even more throughout the community. “In Bryan, College Station, in the schools, and the surrounding counties. Our hope and goal is to be more within the community instead of in our designated location that we have been in,” says Baker. Baker says they are excited to have a larger presence in the schools. “Our opportunity now is going to be interacting with the students within the schools and bring the fun and education and inspiration to the students there,” says Baker. Baker says the online presence will include online learning opportunities and engagement. And signature events including the Daddy Daughter Dance, Noon Year’s Eve, and Little Sparklers will continue. In the meantime, CMBV will continue fundraising to create a new museum in a larger space at Lake Walk. The current facility will close on Saturday, October 19th. Since early 2021, the Children’s Museum has been proud to welcome more than 50,000 guests to our Lake Walk location. Our current facility, however, is too small to meet the community’s present and future needs. In an effort to best utilize our resources, we will be closing the Lake Walk facility on Saturday, October the 19th and temporarily switching to an online and mobile presence. “We are excited about the upcoming phase for the Children’s Museum. Brazos Valley families can still expect signature Children’s Museum events including the Daddy Daughter Dance and Rock’in Noon Year’s Eve, along with new initiatives and engagement within local elementary schools. Over the next few years, The Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley will be fundraising to create a new museum experience in a significantly larger space at Lake Walk, offering opportunities for guests of all ages to explore, play, create, and learn. The new space will offer both permanent and rotating exhibits, programming, and activities that will make each visit a new and exciting educational experience. “We love seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they walk towards the Children’s Museum,” said Spencer Clements with William Cole Companies, the developer of Lake Walk. “Our community needs a larger version of an interactive discovery center that will inspire the next generation.
