REIMS, France – Texas A&M All-American Mary Stoiana won all three of her matches as Team USA claimed its fifth consecutive title at Master’U BNP Paribas.
Stoaina, who also starred on the victorious 2023 squad, won both her singles matches and paired with Michael Zheng for a mixed doubles victory.
In the quarterfinals, she topped Sina Herrmann of Germany, 6-0, 6-3. Stoiana and Zheng triumphed over Laura Boehner and Alen Mujakic (9-7) as the USA beat Germany, 6-1.
Stoiana earned a victory over Alice Robbe, 5-7, 7-6, 10-6 as USA prevailed over France, 5-1, in semifinal action.
The Red, White & Blue clinched the title with Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Great Britain.
Stoiana went 7-0 in her two years competing at Master’U, including 4-0 in singles action.
Known as ‘The World Event of University Tennis,’ the Master’U BNP Paribas Championship is in its 17th year. The tournament welcomes eight nations for high-level competition between many of the top-ranked student-athletes from both NCAA institutions and other university systems around the world. Participating nations in 2024 included Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Switzerland and the USA.
In collegiate action this fall, Stoiana is 8-2. She advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles championship in November. She recently won her first professional circuit singles title with a win at the ITF W75 Edmond Open on Oct. 13.
