Texas A&M Women’s Tennis Has Strong Opening Day in Honolulu

HONOLULU – The Texas A&M women’s tennis team finished the first day of the Weinman Foundation Invitational with a 9-1 record at the UH Tennis Complex.

Nicole Khirin/Jeanette Mireles claimed the first victory of the season over Hawaii’s Hannah Galindo/Makeilah Nepomuceno, 6-0. Lucciana Perez/Lexington Reed followed up with a 7-5 victory over Hawaii’s Ana Vilcek/Nikola Homolkova. USC’s No. 7 Lily Fairclough/Grace Piper defeated Mia Kupres/Daria Smetannikov in a close battle, 7-6(3).

In singles action the Maroon & White were a perfect 7-0, with two Aggies claiming ranked victories. No. 15 Khirin took down USC’s No. 45 Emma Charney (6-2, 6-2), and Kupres handed No. 57 Immi Haddad a 6-3, 6-2 defeat. Mireles claimed her first singles victory of 2025 over Hawaii’s Joelle Lanz (6-2, 6-0) and No. 102 Smetannikov added another win over Hawaii’s Peppi Ramstedt, 6-4, 6-3. Perez won her match versus Hawaii’s Vilcek (6-0, 6-2), while Lizanne Boyer took down Hawaii’s Allaire Berl. Finishing the day for the Aggies in her regular season debut was Lexington Reed, who defeated Hawaii’s Galindo, 6-2, 6-0.

Texas A&M continues action tomorrow starting with doubles at 2 p.m.
