Texas A&M Women’s Hoops Adds LSU Transfer Kailyn Gilbert

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

Texas A&M women’s basketball announced the addition of LSU transfer Kailyn Gilbert to the 2026-27 roster.

“Kailyn is a dynamic scorer who has proven herself in the SEC, and we’re excited to add that level of offensive firepower to our roster,” Head Coach Joni Taylor said. “The experience she brings to our backcourt along with her desire to maximize her last year of eligibility is invaluable. I’m thrilled to see Kailyn in a Texas A&M jersey and officially become part of the 12th Man.”

Gilbert comes to Texas A&M after spending the past two seasons at LSU (2024-26). The Tampa Bay native played just five games this previous year, but averaged 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game during the 2024-25 campaign as a junior. Gilbert was a key figure in LSU’s journey to the 2025 Elite Eight and a 31-6 record in her first season with the Tigers.

The rising redshirt senior played her first two years at Arizona (2022-24). As a sophomore, the 5-8 guard led the Wildcats in points per game (15.1) and was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Dec. 23, 2023, after scoring a career-high 26 points versus Texas and 19 in a dominant 39-point victory over Arizona State. Gilbert scored 20+ in seven games as a sophomore and shot 38.1% from deep during her time at Arizona.

For her career, Gilbert is averaging 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and shooting 40.2% from the field and 35.9% from long range.

Coming out of IMG Academy, Gilbert was the No. 31 recruit in the 2022 class and the 2022 Class 3A Florida Player of the Year. Gilbert joins Miyah Verse (Georgia), Kaniya Boyd (Tennessee) and Essence Cody (Alabama) as transfers to join the Aggies this offseason.
