BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M women’s golf earned the No. 9 spot on Golfweek’s Preseason Team Ranking and three Aggies were tabbed as Golf Channel Preseason All-Americans, the organizations announced Tuesday morning.
Adela Cernousek led the way with first-team All-America selections by both Golfweek and Golf Channel. The senior became the first Aggie to win an NCAA Individual Championship last year and was the first player in program history to shoot below 70.00 for a season, recording a blistering 69.94 stroke average during the 2023-24 campaign. The Antibes, France, native ranks No. 8 on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and led the team at the Carmel Cup to open the year by taking home a share of sixth.
Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio earned a second-team nod by Golf Channel after her stellar freshman season. The Madrid, Spain, native was an All-SEC Second Team selection last year and tied for 16th at NCAAs. Fernández García-Poggio is No. 29 on the WAGR and began this year with a tie for seventh at the Carmel Cup.
Freshman Vanessa Borovilos was tabbed as a Golf Channel Honorable Mention All-American. Borovilos was the No. 3 recruit in the 2024 class and the top player out of Canada. The Etobicoke, Ontario, product tied for 12th at the Carmel Cup in her collegiate debut and comes in at No. 111 on the WAGR.
The trio of preseason All-Americans are led by fourth-year head coach Gerrod Chadwell who has transformed the Texas A&M women’s golf program since his appointment before the 2021-22 season. Chadwell has taken the Maroon & White to three straight appearances in match play at NCAAs, including semifinal runs in 2022 and 2023. He also guided the Aggies to the 2023 SEC Championship and an appearance in the championship match in 2024.
