News release from Texas A&M:
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M volleyball’s Maddie Waak was named SEC Setter of the Week following the Aggies’ sweep of Oklahoma, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Waak earned her second weekly honor of the year, as she spearheaded A&M’s most efficient offensive outing of the season in its straight-set victory over the Sooners. The Katy, Texas, native dished 32 assists and led the team to a .444 hitting percentage which ranks as the Maroon & White’s season high and the second-highest total for a team during conference play this year.
The junior tacked on a pair of aces and digs in the fixture, as she sits second on the team in total aces (17) and third in digs (178). Her 32-assist outing marks her seventh this year averaging over 10 per frame in a three-set match.
Waak and the Aggies return to action Friday, as they face Georgia in Reed Arena with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for Friday’s match are available on 12thmanfoundation.com.
