OXFORD – The Texas A&M volleyball team stays on the road for its fourth conference match of the season as it faces Ole Miss Wednesday at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center with first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
The Aggies won their second-straight conference fixture and first ranked match of the season last time out, as they upset No. 24 Auburn on the road in four sets, 3-1. Logan Lednicky was the star of the show, setting new season highs in both kills and digs, logging 23 and 18, respectively. Her outstanding performance earned her SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors, her first of the season and third of her career.
Staying on the road, A&M heads to Ole Miss who enters the match with a 12-3 record and match the Aggies with a 2-1 ledger in league play. The Rebels hold an unblemished 5-0 record at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center this year and carry a two-match win streak into the fixture.
The Maroon & White have dominated the all-time series between the programs, as they hold a 19-3 record versus the Rebels. A&M has found success on the road with a 10-1 record playing in Ole Miss territory, including a 3-1 victory last season.
Following the first three matches of conference play, the Aggies top the league in both kills per set (14.23) and assists per set (13.44). The group also ranks second in opponent hitting percentage (.172), fourth in blocks per set (2.60) and fifth in hitting percentage (.273). The Rebels stand top-five in the conference in three categories including fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.174), fifth in digs per set (14.40) and fifth in aces per set (1.70).
Maddie Waak remains the league’s leading setter, averaging 11.08 assists per frame, while Ifenna Cos-Okpalla is tied for the lead in the SEC in blocks per set averaging 1.52. Lednicky ranks sixth in the league in points per set (4.99) and seventh in kills per set (4.29).
