News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M volleyball’s Ifenna Cos-Okpalla and Logan Lednicky were named to the 2024 Preseason All-SEC Team, the league announced Wednesday.
During the conferences’ preseason voting, Cos-Okpalla and Lednicky were recognized by the league’s coaches as they were named to the Preseason All-SEC Team following impressive sophomore campaigns. Cos-Okpalla was the defensive anchor for the Aggies last season, leading the team in blocks (151) and blocks per set (1.62). She also topped the nation in blocks per set. Lednicky was the offensive standout for the team, pacing the squad in kills (340), kills per set (3.24) and points (389.5). The pair received All-South Region Team honors, while Lednicky was also named to the All-SEC Team.
Entering his second year at the helm of the program, head coach Jamie Morrison has built an exciting schedule to challenge the team in the 2024 season as the Aggies aim to build off last year’s NCAA Tournament appearance, their first since 2019. The Maroon & White brought back key pieces from last season and added experience to the lineup from across the country. They return nine players from the 2023 campaign, while adding five transfers and one incoming freshman to complete this year’s roster.
The Maroon & White have been projected to finish seventh in the conference standings by the league’s coaches, a spot higher than last year’s prediction. The team received 117 voting points, improving on last year’s total by 54 points.
