Texas A&M Transportation Services Will Extend Bike Sharing Contract With VeoRide

Texas A&M’s current provider of ride sharing bicycles will be staying.

Transportation Services announces a contract renewal with VeoRide that includes changes that are being made for the next semester.

The area where VeoRide bicycles will operate will shrink to the campus, Century Square, and Park West.

Bicycles will be parked at secured racks.

And fines will be increased for violators.

Transportation Services says memberships will remain active and unchanged.

Statement issued by Texas A&M transportation services to the campus community:

Transportation Services has agreed to renew the contract with the current vendor VeoRide and will have several hundred bikes available for the start of the spring semester.

Bike share at Texas A&M will continue with updated program requirements, including a “lock-to-a-rack” system for securing the bikes before ending a trip, a revised and smaller geofence that includes campus only (including Park West and Century Square), and increased fine structure for violations, such as parking bikes in an inappropriate manner.

Additional bikes will be added to the fleet as updates are made with the new locking features.

The goal is to return the fleet to its previous operational size.

At this time, Transportation Services is working with VeoRide to get these enhancements to the program in place by the start of the semester.

Memberships remain active and unchanged.

Additional details will be made available Jan. 7.
