Texas A&M Track & Field Hosts Ted Nelson Invitational

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team returns to the R.A. ‘Murray’ Fasken ’38 Indoor Track & Field facility to host the Ted Nelson Invitational Jan. 24-25, with events starting at 4 p.m. on the opening day and 10 a.m. the second day.

The Aggies are coming off a standout showing at the Corky Classic, as the team downed a trio of school records, claimed four event titles, added another three top-12 marks in program history and secured 10 personal-best performances.

Aleksandr Solovev led the school-record charge, setting a new standard in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.74m/18-10 to win the event and extended his national lead. The following day Luca Santorum broke a 25-year-old A&M record in the 1,000m, as he crossed the line first in 2:21.93 in his first appearance for the Maroon & White. Kennedy Wade capped off the record-breaking showings in the event right after Santorum, finishing the 600y with a time of 1:20.69.

A&M added another pair of wins in Lubbock, as Winny Bii captured the triple jump crown with a leap of 13.38m/43-10.75 which also debuted her at No. 6 in the Aggie history books. The women’s 4x400m relay claimed the final title, as the quartet of Camryn Dickson, Jasmine Montgomery, Latasha Smith and Jermaisha Arnold brought it home in 3:31.34 which ranks third in the nation.

The Maroon & White have another few standout performers nationally, as they have three athletes in the top five in the men’s 400m, including Antonie Nortje in first, Kimar Farquharson in third and Hossam Hatib in fourth, while Jermaisha Arnold holds No. 3 in the event on the women’s side. The men’s relay team comprised of Cutler Zamzow, Hatib, Farquharson and Auhmad Robinson ranks third.
