Resolutions approved at this week’s meeting of the Texas A&M system board of regents included one honoring George H.W. Bush.
Before the unanimous vote adopting a resolution titled “Pledging the Perpetual Commitment of The Texas A&M University System to Honor the Life and Legacy of President George H.W. Bush”, regents chairman Charles Schwartz of Houston talked about an incident at the Houston church where services were held for the former president.
Schwartz said he thought Bush would appreciate the humor in the story of shaking hands with a friendly man who picked up a church bulletin that Schwartz had dropped.
After Schwartz walked away, his wife informed him he had shaken hands with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Schwartz was among A&M officials who were honorary pallbearers at the service.
