Texas A&M Swimming & Diving Wins at Art Adamson Invitational
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M swimming & diving collected numerous NCAA B-cut times and lowered multiple personal bests on their way to a pair of commanding wins at the Art Adamson Invitational. The women’s squad amassed 1,223.5 points, while the men totaled 1,134.
Hayden Miller won the 1650 free to get finals action started with a time of 16:08.03. Trey Dickey followed up with a 15:00.12 in the men’s heat. Both Miller and Dickey earned NCAA B-cut qualifications with their performances.
Thomas Shomper (1:41.75) and Tyler Hulet (1:42.03) each recorded season-best times in the 200 back to claim the top two spots. Aviv Barzelay led the way in the women’s 200 back with a season-best 1:55.03. Ellis Fox topped the 200 back B-final with a time of 1:57.87, which was her quickest of the season and the third-quickest time of the evening.
The Maroon & White clocked the four fastest times in the 100 free, as Connor Foote (42.18) and Ben Scholl (43.06) recorded NCAA B-cut times. Seth Reno and Collin Fuchs tailed closely behind with season-best times of 43.26 and 43.43, respectively. Chloe Stepanek (48.40) and Kaitlyn Owens (49.39) each lowered season-best times to go one-two in the women’s 100 free.
The men’s 200 breast A-final featured six Aggies, as Alex Sanchez (1:51.87), Baylor Nelson (1:53.77), Vincent Ribeiro (1:54.61) and Travis Gulledge (1:55.17) filled the top four spots. Logan Brown notched a B-cut time of 1:55.28 and Munzy Kabbara clocked a 2:01.16. Bobbi Kennett (2:12.97) and Hannah O’Leary (2:13.04) both earned NCAA B-cut qualifications with season-best times in the women’s 200 breast.
Olivia Theall set a career-best time in the 200 fly, going 1:54.09 to top the heat. Her time is sixth-fastest in program history. Roberto Bonilla Flores followed up with a personal-best 1:44.37 in the men’s 200 fly, good for 10th in team history.
The meet concluded with both men’s and women’s 400 free relay teams picking up NCAA B-cut times. The women’s squad of Stepanek, Owens, Jordan Buechler and McQuinn clocked a 3:15.22, and the men’s team of Foote, Scholl, Reno and Nelson touched the wall first with a 2:49.90.
