BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M swimming & diving program returns to the Rec Center Natatorium to begin the 2025 slate of the season with dual meets against No. 4/4 Florida on Jan. 17 and No. 20/16 LSU on Jan. 18. Action will begin at 11 a.m. on both days and the Aggies will honor their senior class prior to the meet on Saturday.
The Aggies went undefeated in dual meet competition in the fall half of the schedule, and both the men’s and women’s teams are coming off first-place finishes in the Art Adamson Invitational. The women’s squad is currently ranked No. 21 while the men come in 23rd.
Kaitlyn Owens impressed at the Art Adamson Invitational, claiming career-best times of 22.18 in the 50 free and 51.79 in the 100 back. Both swims rank among the top-10 fastest times in program history. Olivia Theall posted a personal-best 1:54.09 in the 200 fly, which stands as the sixth-fastest time in school history. Additionally, Theall topped her heat in the 100 fly with a season-best 51.51. Giulia Goerigk collected season-best times to sweep the IM events with a 1:57.96 in the 200 and 4:10.11 in the 400.
The men’s 200 medley relay squad of Thomas Shomper, Travis Gulledge, Connor Foote and Ben Scholl notched the fifth-fastest time in team history with a 1:23.74 on day two of Invite. Foote posted times of 19.10 in the 50 free and 42.18 in the 100 free to top each heat. Scholl tailed closely behind in the same events with times of 19.30 and 43.06. Shomper swept the individual backstroke events, touching the wall first at 46.31 in the 100 back and 1:41.75 in the 200 back. Tyler Hulet followed in second in both events with NCAA B-cut times of 46.49 and 1:42.03.
Diving returns to action for the first time since the Texas Diving Invitational in November. Else Praasterink (319.90) and Jaxon Bowshire (383.80) claimed first in their respective platform events. Leonardo Garcia placed third on platform with a score of 372.30 and placed second on the 3-meter springboard with a 407.95.
