Texas A&M Swimming & Diving Ink 11 New Athletes

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M swimming & diving program inked 11 newcomers in its 2025 signing class. On the women’s sides, the Aggies added swimmers Ella Freeman, Lillie Sczech, Ophir Rakah, Celina Springer and Eloise Williamson, while the men signed swimmers Bucky Gettys, Wesley Foster, Daniel King, Alejandro Michelena and AJ Robinson, as well as diver Emilio Trevino.

Ella Freeman – Rockwall, Texas – IM/Fly/Breast

Freeman has spent 11 years with Rockwall Aquatics Center of Excellence (RACE). She has registered personal-best times of 4:19.35 in the 400 IM, 2:02.22 in the 200 fly and 2:17.88 in the 200 breast. In 2023 and 2024 she was recognized as a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and participated in the 2022 USA Swimming Girls National Select Camp.

Lillie Sczech – Sugar Land, Texas – Breast/IM

Sczech is a four-year letterwinner at George Ranch High School. She boasts school record times of 1:02.61 in the 100 breast and 2:05.17 in the 200 IM, and also holds a personal-best time of 2:13.41 in the 200 breast. As a junior, Sczech earned high school All-America honors in the 100 breast and was named a regional silver medalist and district champion. She has competed with First Colony Swim Team for eight years.

Ophir Rakah – Rishon Lezion, Israel – Fly

Rakah is a two-time Israeli national champion and holds long course personal-best times of 1:01.28 in the 100 fly and 2:15.06 in the 200 fly. She competed at the 2023 World Junior Championships as well as European Junior Championships. She has been swimming with Macabi Kiryat Biyalik for the last two years and holds the club record in the 200 fly with a 2:15.05.

Celina Springer – Schwerte, Germany – Free/Back

Springer has been swimming for SG Dortmund for 10 years. She boasts short course personal-best times of 55.30 in the 100 free and 1:01.96 in the 100 back. She competed at the European Junior Championships where she clocked a 56.81 in the 100 free to qualify for semifinals.

Eloise Williamson – Garland, Texas – Fly/Free

Williamson has competed for four years at Coram Deo Academy. She has earned eight individual state championships and holds personal-best times of 53.76 in the 100 fly, 2:00.44 in the 200 fly and 23.35 in the 50 free. Named a team captain ahead of her season, Williamson is an eight-time state champion and a three-time winner of the Bruce Rollins Distinguished Swimmer Award.  She has been competing for Metroplex Aquatic Club for the last year.

Bucky Gettys – Round Rock, Texas – Free

Gettys has competed for four years at Round Rock High School. He holds the school record in the 500 free and has placed first at district and second at regionals in the event. He boasts top times of 4:19.26 in the 500 free, 9:01.52 in the 1000 free and 15:27.13 in the 1650 free. He has also spent 14 years swimming for Texas Gold, hitting qualifying standards for 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and has competed for the National Junior Team.

Wesley Foster – The Woodlands, Texas – Fly/Free

Foster comes to Aggieland after four years competing for The Woodlands High School. He earned All-America honors in 2024 in the 100 free and 100 fly, as well as on 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Foster helped his team take third at state in 2024 and second in 2023, winning the district and regional both seasons. He holds top times of 48.40 in the 100 fly, 1:47.95 in the 200 fly, 20.85 in the 50 free, 44.95 in the 100 free and 1:40.83 in the 200 free. He has also spent the last year comping for Premier Aquatics Club of Klein.

Daniel King – San Antonio, Texas – Breast/IM

King has competed for Alamo Area Aquatics for six years. He clocked a top time of 55.57 at Speedo Sectionals in 2023 and 2:00.18 in the 200 breast at Speedo Sectionals in 2024. King added personal-bests of 1:53.77 in the 200 IM and 4:00.55 in the 400 IM at Speedo Sectionals in 2024. He has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-America accolades in each of the last three years.

Alejandro Michelena – Klein, Texas – Fly/Free

Michelena has earned four letters at Klein Cain High School. He garnered All-America honors in the 50 free and 100 free in 2024 and 2023. Michelena helped his team to top-10 finishes at the state meet in each of the last two seasons. Individually, he placed second in the 100 free and fourth in the 50 free at the state championships in 2024. He boasts top times of 20.33 in the 50 free, 44.62 in the 100 free, 47.99 in the 100 fly and 1:45.86 in the 200 fly. Michelena also competed for Pack Swimming for 12 years.

AJ Robinson – College Station, Texas – Multi

Robinson competed for eight years for Aggie Swim Club. He notched a top-time of 1:40.49 at the Senior Cup in 2024 and 4:31.50 in the 500 free at the Bob Stallings Invite this fall. He added personal-bests in the backstroke events at Speedo Sectionals in College Station, going 51.24 in the 100 and1:49.64 in the 200.

Emilio Trevino – Monterrey, Mexico – Diving

Trevino has competed for the state diving team of Nuevo Leon for 11 years. He placed first at Junior Pan American Championships on platform with a score of 551.90 points and added a top score on platform at CCCAN in 2024. Trevino also took the top spot at nationals in synchronized platform in 2024, with a score of 283.23.
