Texas A&M’s student health center is ending providing gender affirming care services.
An e-mail sent to affected students says the decision to end August 1 was made “after careful consideration and evaluation of services” at the center.
The e-mail says there was a “thorough assessment of the center’s resources, capabilities, and patient needs.”
Students were told that the center’s team can assist in what was described as “finding alternative Gender Affirming Care from compassionate providers with expertise in this area.”
An A&M spokesperson tells WTAW News that in 2023, 44 students received those services. No surgeries of any kind are done at the health center. Most students received hormone replacement therapy.
